Senior citizens keeping the tradition of creole cuisine alive

Living Heritage

The Seychelles Heritage Foundation in collaboration with the senior citizens of Anse Royale and Port-Glaud district is keeping the tradition of creole cuisine through their living heritage programme which is being conducted every Tuesdays at the Domaine de Val des Prés.

Last Tuesday, Mrs Christianne Nibourette and her group prepared a typical coconut chicken curry seasoned with ''piman kabri'' and cinnamon leaves collected from the plantation estate, to accompany this tasteful dish. We had lentils cooked with local salted sausages and a freshly made pawpaw chutney. As for dessert the smooth creamy ''daube de banane'' was indeed distinguishly palatable.

A nice simple creole menu which was most enjoyable.

Visitors are most welcome every Tuesday from 10am - 1pm to witness live demonstration of traditional cooking and traditional local craft.
