As part of Tourism Week, Bazar Domaine will once again take place at Domaine de Val des Près, Au Cap, on Saturday, 26 September 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The public are invited to experience a vibrant celebration of Seychelles’ rich Creole heritage featuring local crafts, traditional games, fresh produce , local food and refreshing local juices.

From 3:00 p.m., get ready for a lively 'Bal Kreol' with Benn Zez! And the best part — entry is free!

On the 22nd January of 1910, the Carnegie Library in Victoria was opened by Governor Walter Edward Davidson (1859-1923). It was built with a donation of GBP1,750 from the Scottish born American philanthropist, Andrew Carnegie (1832-1919).

On the 9th of March of 1928, the RAFFLES hotel was established in Victoria. A modern tourist Accommodation, it had furnished bungalows for hire. It also arranged fishing trips, picnics and excursions to outer islands. It was later called the Empire Hotel. It was located on the same site where the Pirates Arms now stands.

On the 27th December of 1920, regulations came into force that required persons landing in the Colony to be possessed of passports and to restrict the landing in the Colony of undesirable immigrants.

On the 10th January 1942, all schools in the colony were closed in view of an epidemic of German measles.

On the 15th October of 1953, quadruplets were born at the Seychelles hospital to Louise Marie. It was a first in the history of Seychelles. Rachel, Therese, William & Jessie were offered a free supply of Cow & Gate milk food by the Cow & Gate Company Ltd of London which also published postcards of the Seychellois Quadroplets.

On the 2nd February of 1939, Governor Arthur Grimble (1888-1956) announced that he had made a request for a respiratory apparatus known as iron lung for the Victoria hospital, from Viscount Nuffield, who was then supplying some 5,000 of these machines to all hospitals in the British Empire.

On the 2nd October of 1972, the stadium (Stad Popiler) in Victoria was officially opened by Princess Margaret. During the one-week celebrations to mark the bicentenary anniversary of the first arrival of settlers on Mahe (1772). The Princess was accompanied on her visit to Seychelles by her husband, Lord Snowdon. The stadium was built on reclaimed land.

On the 19th of July 1962, Regulations came into force that made it unlawful for any person to catch or kill female turtles in certain places, from the first day of December in any year, to the thirty-first day of March in the succeeding year.
